Paddle Trails: North Carolina Sea Grant and the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Division of Parks and Recreation, in cooperation with the NC Center for Geographic Information and Analysis, developed the digital geographic information system (GIS) Paddle Trails, Coastal Plain data to as part of an ongoing effort to inventory and publicize watertrails through DPR's trails programs. This data contains the trail locations and access points for the inventoried trails in the coastal plain of North Carolina. Other trails in the coastal plain and in other portions of the state are to be inventoried as resources allow. Boating Access Areas: NC WRC Division of Engineering Services developed this set of point locations of boating access areas owned or maintained by the Agency or constructed with Agency's partnership. Fishing Designated Trout Waters: The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission in cooperation with the N.C. Center for Geographic Information and Analysis developed the WRC DPMTW digital data to enhance planning and management of trout streams. The GIS data set depicts the trout regulations in effect on trout streams managed under the DPMTW program as listed in the 1997-98 North Carolina Inland Fishing, Hunting & Trapping Regulations Digest (Effective July 1, 1997 to June 30, 1998). This file enables the user to identify the regulations in effect through a color coding system that reflects the foreground color of signs posted along the streams. The file also reveals whether or not the streams are located on public lands (game lands). Publically accessible lands data were derived from Federal lands files, North Carolina game lands files, and data digitized from private ownership maps. Plans are to update these maps as changes occur. These maps are provided as a guide to trout waters and users should refer to the current Regulations Digest to confirm regulations in effect. Gamelands: The North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Wildlife Resources Commission and the NC Center for Geographic Information and Analysis developed the GIS data set, WRC Game Lands, to enhance management and planning, citing and impact analysis in areas directly affecting WRC Game Lands. The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission assumed sole responsibility for all updates to the data set after the May 1999 update. The current updates enable the user to identify all publicly-owned Game Lands managed by the NC Wildlife Resources Commission.
