Abstract: This 2009 raster dataset is a combination of geo-referenced TIF and TFW world file format color orthophotography imagery at one of two resolutions covering Martin County, NC. The orthophotography dataset is comprised of a count of 120, 1"=100'scale tiles at 0.25-foot resolution and a count of 172, 1"=400' scale tiles at 1.0-foot resolution. The Natural Color imagery conforms to NC Land Records Management Division Technical Specifications that were included in the Organizations' RFP. An orthophoto is remotely sensed image data in which displacement of features in the image caused by terrain relief and sensor orientation have been mathematically removed. Orthophotography combines the image characteristics of a photograph with the geometric qualities of a map.The digital aerial photography was acquired for Martin County, NC at two flight altitudes and imagery resolutions. The 1"=100' scale ortho map areas were acquired at 2,500 feet above mean terrain and nominal 1/4 foot ground sample distance (GSD) resolution. The 1"=400' scale ortho map areas were acquired at 10,000 feet above mean terrain and nominal 1 foot ground sample distance (GSD) resolution. The digital aerial imagery was acquired with a nominal 60% forwardlap and and nominal 30% sidelap between adjacent flight lines at a sun angle of 33 degrees or greater. The digital aerial imagery was captured at 12-bit radiometric resolution and converted to 8-bit radiometric resolution during the post processing of the raw imagery utilizing Intergraph Post Processing Software (PPS). The digital imagery was acquired utilizing two of Sanborns Intergraph DMC Digital Mapping Cameras serial numbers DMC01-046 and DMC01-109.The analytical aerial triangulation was completed utilizing ImageStation Automated Triangulation software (ISAT) and the orthophotography images were rectified utilizing OrthoPro software, cubic convulution resampling method and the NC Flood Plain Mapping Program's bare earh LiDAR data. The color orthophotography digital images are available in uncompressed geo-referenced TIF and TFW format and as MrSID geo-referenced compressed images at 1:10 and 1:30 ratios. The color orthophotography was referenced to the North Carolina State Plane Coordinate System, NAD 83/2007(NSRS) and the unit of measurement was the US Survey Foot, NAVD88. Direct GPS ties were made to numerious NCGS published control stations during the ground control and aerial photography acquisition tasks. Additional photo-identifiable GPS surveyed control points were also utilized to create and quality control the orthophotography images.
Purpose: The goal of this project is to provide Martin County, NC with 2009 color digital ortho imagery conforming to the project specifications.
